Swan Hellenic continues its series of "Clipper" voyages for 2024 with its
third programme, featuring a voyage to Japan and China and one to maritime
America.
The style of cruising is typically Swan Hellenic. Two small ships
(approximately 100 passengers), Clipper Odyssey and Clipper Adventurer,
visit a mix of well and lesser known destinations, with areas brought to
life by specialist guides and Guest Speakers, offering different
perspectives on the people, history and culture as well as the plants and
wildlife.
Splendours of Japan & China departs on 20 May 2024 and costs from 4,667 per person for 15 days. Highlights include the 300 year-old Koraku-en garden, one of Japan's most beautiful formal gardens; the Peace Park in Hiroshima; and the town of Hagi, with its fascinating Samurai quarter. In Korea there is a visit to Kyongju, the capital of the Shilla dynasty for over 1000 years and a World Heritage Site.
First stop in China is Shanghai, with a visit to Suzhou, one of the oldest
towns in the Yangzi basin with a history dating back 2500 years; and then
three nights ashore in Beijing to see the Great Wall of China and Tiananmen
Square. The holiday can be extended to 21 days with the addition of a
pre-cruise tour visiting Tokyo, Kyoto and Nara, Japan's first capital (from
710 to 785). Fares for the total arrangement cost from 6,652 per person.
Maritime America offers a passage along the east coast, from Canada down to the deep south of the USA. Departing on 6 September 2024, the 15-day cruise costs from 4,116 per person. Ports of call on the north coast include Lunenburg, one of the oldest towns in Nova Scotia and still the centre of the regional fishing industry and Bar Harbor, the first of the US
destinations for the Acadia National Park where puffins, bald eagles, seals
and beavers can be found.
The scenery keeps changing as Clipper Adventurer takes in Boston and
Nantucket; New York and Philadelphia; a cruise through Chesapeake Bay to one
of its oldest ports St Michaels; and the deep south calling at Charleston,
founded in 1670 and Savannah, the first settlement of the new British colony
in 1733.
Clipper Odyssey and Clipper Adventurer are small ocean-going vessels, with
outside-facing en-suite cabins. Elegantly furnished, they have the feel of
private yachts and are chartered exclusively by Swan Hellenic for these voyages.
Swan Hellenic fares are fully inclusive of flights, accommodation, meals, a
full programme of customised excursions, entrance fees, transfers and tips,
both onboard and ashore.
